Is Derek Done Dancing?

Forget about Jessica Simpson… my boy Derek Hough was taken to the hospital for a real emergency. Luckily, it wasn’t serious enough to keep him from standing by his partner Shannon Elizabeth last night on Dancing with the Stars’ results show, but still… According to news reports, DWTS pro Hough injured his neck while he was rehearsing a routine with his sister Julianne and fellow Dancing pro Mark Ballas. Show producers say an ambulance was called and Hough was taken away on a stretcher as a precaution and sent to a nearby hospital for tests. You know when rumors have hit a fever pitch when stars actually respond to them. Such is the case with former “Dancing with the Stars” champs Drew Lachey and his pro partner Cheryl Burke. Star magazine is reporting that the flexible dancing duo had an affair. But, that’s not the worst part. Maksim Takes a Break

I am sad to say that Maksim Chmerkovskiy will not be a regular dancer on the upcoming season of “Dancing with the Stars.” His reps told People magazine that the gorgeous dancer would be taking time off, that he “needs a break.” The 28-year-old hoofer had previously been partnered with Laila Ali (who just finished up her first season on “American Gladiators”) and Spice Girl Mel B. “Strictly Ballroom” is an Australian-made spoof of the ballroom dance arena, and it’s a lot of fun. Scott Hastings (Paul Mercurio) is the son of a champion ballroom dancer, and she has raised him with the same ambitions. He wants to win the championship, but along the way, he started experimenting with steps of his own that weren’t strictly ballroom, and he demonstrated them at a lower-level meet, throwing the judges into a tizzy, nearly giving his mother a nervous breakdown, and causing everyone to wonder about the future of the sport.
