French Connection

Madonna is mad, and apparently you don't want to see Madonna mad.

Just ask the staff at the ultra swanky Carlton Intercontinental Hotel in Cannes, France. That's where the Material Girl has been camping out for the last week while in town for the Cannes International Film Festival.

According to French newspapers, the pop super duper star was irate when she discovered that a camera crew from a French television station snuck into her suite while she was out whooping it up at a late night party.

The paper claims that Madonna was furious when footage of her hotel room appeared on French TV. According to reports, a TV crew managed to sneak past hotel security, gained access to the singer's suite, shot the specially provided purified water and gym equipment she had requested and broadcast it over the airwaves.

French newspaper Le Parisien says Madonna was so angry with the hotel staff that she refused to pay her $90,000 bill.

Next time she's in town Madonna should ask Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie if she can stay at their new French digs. She won't have to worry about camera crews there. According to local real estate agents, Brangelina's new abode is one of the most secluded in the region.

New reports say the good-looking couple just signed a three-year lease on a chateau adjacent to the French Riviera. The pair's children will reportedly have plenty of space to roam. The 880-acre estate called Chateau Miraval, which is valued at $70 million, comes with its own vineyard, olive groves, lake, moat, 20 fountains and even a forest to help ensure privacy.

When they feel like leaving their compound for a bit the Jolie-Pitt's can visit their famous neighbors, including Johnny Depp and David and Victoria Beckham.

Earlier this month Jolie, who is expecting twins later this summer, hinted that she would give birth in France, especially since French is the second language in the family's home.

Local real estate experts say the couple's new rental property is the ideal place for the growing family to achieve the peace they desire. According to those familiar with the estate: "No one will ever be able to get pictures of them relaxing at home, it's just impossible."

I wonder if the lease comes with an option to buy?

I'm not a fan of Madonna, but I can't say I blame her for not paying the bill. I'm sure she's assuming, no doubt correctly, that somebody was paid a princely sum to give that crew the key. As far as I'm concerned, that guy should pay the bill out of his take!

When a celebrity goes to a place like Cannes, they should be able to expect their hotel room to be off limits to press. I mean, it's Cannes, for crying out loud! A hotel that allows the press to peruse through one's belongings just isn't going to stay in business long at a place like Cannes. Somebody clearly wasn't thinking about the fact that when celebrities talk, millions listen.

She's lucky she didn't have anything in there that would have really made headlines... like undergarments hanging from the towel racks. I agree with you ladies... no way should she have had to pay for the room... and severe lack of security.
