“Slumdog” Kids Finally Get New Digs

After living on the streets for the past few weeks Slumdog Millionaire’s child stars Azharuddin Ismail and Rubina Ali now have a new dilemma on their hands—deciding which new home to live in. According to reports, Slumdog director Danny Boyle got fed up with hearing about how poorly his young stars’ were being treated by the Indian government, so he flew to Mumbai this week and purchased new apartments for them. Shortly after Slumdog won the 2009 Oscar for best film, Boyle established the Jai Ho Trust to help fund 10-year-old Ismail and 9-year-old Ali’s education. However the generous scholarship … Continue reading

“Slumdog” Star’s Parent Could Use Some Help

I can’t stop thinking about the father of the “Slumdog Millionaire” star, who is accused of kicking his 10-year-old son because he refused to grant an interview to a reporter who was planning to pay for the kid to talk. It’s bad enough that the crazed father thrashed his superstar son in front of dozens of witnesses, but to then blame others for his actions is reprehensible, in my opinion. Apparently in Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail’s father’s public apology he took aim at “Slumdog” producer Christian Colson saying that if the loaded Hollywood exec made good on his promise to provide … Continue reading

“Slumdog” Star’s Crazy Father Beats Him

What a difference a week makes. Last Monday Slumdog Millionaire’s young Indian actors were wrapping up a dream-like trip to the United States where they were treated like royalty at the Academy Awards and later during VIP visits to Disneyland and the world famous Santa Monica Pier. Monday night they jetted back to their homes in Mumbai and now they are back in the headlines, but for all the wrong reasons. According to reports, the father of 10-year-old Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail has gone to the media begging them to publish a public apology for beating his son in front of … Continue reading

Tonight, is the Academy Awards and among those nominated for Best Picture is a film that features Brad Pitt, one that features Leonardo DiCaprio, and one that features Sean Penn. Virginia Couple Crash a White House Party

It may seem like the ultimate prank – to crash President Obama’s first state dinner. But, Tareq and Michaele Salahi are in trouble – a lot of trouble. No doubt others are in trouble as well. Tuesday, the Salahis attended the dinner in honor of the prime minister of India, Manmohan Singh. Only problem is 320 people were invited to the bash, but the Salahis weren’t among them. They hobnobbed with the elite – Vice President Joe Biden, Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, Washington, D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty, and Slumdog Millionaire composer Ar Rahman. Heck, they even met President Obama … Continue reading

A Review of the 81st Academy Awards – Part 2

There were some amusing moments during this year’s Academy Awards ceremony. I thought it was cute when Kunio Kato added “Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto” to the end of his thank you speech for Best Short Film (Animated), La Maison en Petits Cubes. And, I absolutely loved it when high wire walker Phillippe Petit thanked the Academy for believing in magic then did the magic trick. That was also as good as him balancing the Oscar on his chin. That made me want to see Man on Rope. Of course, the big winner of the night was Slumdog Millionaire. It took … Continue reading
