Finding Love in Hollywood

Like anywhere in the world finding love in Hollywood is not always guaranteed.

But don't tell that to Scarlett Johansson. The 23-year-old actress just got engaged to her actor boyfriend Ryan Reynolds and is said to be "over the moon."

The pair has been dating for more than a year and has been dodging rumors about a trip down the aisle nearly the entire time. So what led the 31-year-old actor to pop the question? Some are speculating that his role in the movie "The Proposal," which he is currently filming in Boston with Sandra Bullock served as inspiration.

Regardless of the reason, Johansson is reportedly thrilled to be tying the knot, though the couple has yet to set a wedding date. But that didn't stop the "Nanny Diaries" star from eagerly showing off her engagement sparkler at Monday night's Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute Gala in New York.

I will be interested to see if the couple actually makes it to the chapel given that Reynolds engagement track record is not exactly stellar. You'll recall that he was once set to marry singer Alanis Morissette, but they called the wedding off not long after Reynolds proposed.

As for when the good-looking twosome will exchange vows, I doubt it will be anytime in the near future. Johansson is debuting a new album in a couple weeks. She is also appearing in Woody Allen's "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" and the Drew Barrymore-produced "He's Just Not That Into You." Reynolds meanwhile has his plate full with a number of film projects, including "Fireflies in the Garden" with Julia Roberts and "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."

While it appears cupid has been good to Johansson and Reynolds, actress Cameron Diaz says she has all but given up on finding love in Tinseltown.

The blonde beauty, who has survived relationships with a string of Hollywood's most eligible bachelors, including Matt Dillon, Jared Leto, and Justin Timberlake, recently told reporters that she has given up her search for the perfect man saying she is convinced he doesn't exist.

The 35-year-old revealed that she has spent years trying to find the perfect partner to settle down with, but just in the past year or so she has been forced to admit she may never find a man to spend the rest of her life with.

Something tells me Diaz will find "Mr. Right" when she stops looking for him.
