Fashionistas Turned Fashion Designers

Oh heck, why not, everyone else is doing it?

That was my reaction when I learned Ashlee Simpson just got a gig at Wet Seal as a fashion designer.

I wonder what big sis Jessica thinks about her copycat sibling honing in on yet another market she ventured into first?

So, yes, the younger Simpson will indeed be launching a collection of T-shirts for the hip retailer. According to Wet Seal execs, Ashlee's line will feature designs inspired by "her own personality, sense of style and album artwork."

The new collection will launch nationwide on April 22nd--the same day Ashlee's new album drops.

Another young pop star trying to milk her 15 minutes of fame is "American Idol" alum Katharine McPhee. The singer recently confirmed that she is partnering with Neutrogena to launch a new project beginning in May. The newlywed joins fellow celebs Jennifer Love Hewitt, Mischa Barton, Hayden Panettiere, Vanessa Hudgens, and Jennifer Garner as famous reps for the popular skincare brand.

Finally, Elle Macpherson's mug is about to be immortalized as well. The supermodel just announced that she has signed on to be Revlon's new global face. The towering beauty follows in the footsteps of other stunning celebs who have worked with the company, including Halle Berry and Jessica Alba. However, according to Revlon execs, Macpherson's glowing skin was not the only reason she was chosen to represent the company. Revlon bigwigs say, "Elle's special qualities as a businesswoman, beautiful and talented model, actress and mother represent the essence of the Revlon brand."

Bottom line: Elle's hot and you can expect to see her face in magazines and on billboards and TV in a worldwide advertising campaign that's set to launch later this year.

As for Macpherson's reason for taking the new gig, the stunner says her association with Revlon will help her focus on another important part of her life: philanthropy. She says the cosmetic company's commitment to support education and research to advance women's health and particularly to fight women's cancers is what drew her to the project.

That... and I'm sure a hefty paycheck. Perhaps, she'll donate part of it to cancer charities.
