Dollywood is For the Birds (Among Other Things)

While Murphy enjoyed Doggywood during our recent Smoky Mountain Getaway, Wayne and I enjoyed Dollywood. And we truly enjoyed it. Especially me, because at every turn I discovered this was no ordinary amusement park. In addition to the exciting rides, craftsman exhibits, and great food, there was also an emphasis on animal conservation. Eagle Mountain Sanctuary As far as birds go, Dolly is definitely for them. “9 to 5” to Appear on Broadway

I love the movie 9 to 5. I remember going to see it at the theater with my parents when it opened in 1980. We loved it so much that we scooped up the grandmothers and went to see it again. In case you never saw it, 9 to 5 was about three women (Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda, and Lily Tomlin) who were struggling with a 9 to 5 job that came with a chauvinist, self-centered boss who intended to keep the in their place. This Year’s Academy Awards

This Sunday is the 79th Annual Academy Awards. This year’s host will be Ellen Degeneres. I like Ellen – I think she is funny. I never cared to watch her talk show because I like her more as a stand up comedian, but I think she should fit in well as host. This is her first appearance as an Oscar host. The 29th Annual Kennedy Center Honors was held on December 3 in Washington, D.C. The group of stars from film, stage, and music that were honored this year was quite varied.
