Celebrity Update: Dog Gets Dumped

A little more than 24 hours after his profanity-laced private phone conversation was posted online, TV’s bounty hunter Duane “Dog” Chapman’s show has been dumped from the air indefinitely. Executives at A&E, the network that broadcasts “Dog The Bounty Hunter,” just announced it has “evaluated the circumstances” surrounding Chapman’s private phone conversation in which the reality star continually used a racial slur and has decided to take the popular show off the network’s schedule for the “foreseeable future.” “We hope that Mr. Chapman continues the healing process that he has begun,” the network said in a public statement released late … Continue reading

“Dog” Back in the Doghouse

Duane “Dog” Chapman is going to have a hard time getting out of the doghouse this time… The TV bounty hunter put his foot in his mouth and is now putting his tail between his legs as he desperately tries to apologize for using the N-word repeatedly in a profanity-laced tirade during a private phone conversation with his son that was recorded and posted online. If being caught (by the National Enquirer of all publications) wasn’t bad enough, reports now say that A&E, the network that airs Chapman’s hit reality series, has suspended production of “Dog the Bounty Hunter” despite … Continue reading

Celebrity Corner—All Gone!

In my previous blog: “Celebrity Corner–Going, Going, Gone” I made a remark about Billy Ray Cyrus’ miraculous longevity on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.” Last night his run on the dance competition came to an end and now he is GONE! But, he isn’t alone. Recently, a number of other celebrities have gotten the boot (or decided to leave on their own) from a variety of venues: Duane “Dog” Chapman and his wife were given the boot from a United Airlines flight early Monday morning after they allegedly yelled and swore at a flight attendant. According to news reports, Los … Continue reading

Bad News For “Dog”

It may not have as many twists and turns as the Anna Nicole Smith saga, but the legal wranglings popular Hawaii-based bounty hunter Duane “Dog” Chapman currently faces is enough to make anyone’s head spin. Chapman is the star of TV’s reality series “Dog the Bounty Hunter,” however his star status may be in jeopardy now that a federal court cleared the way for him to be extradited to Mexico to face charges that he illegally arrested Max Factor makeup heir and convicted rapist Andrew Luster in 2003. According to a Honolulu newspaper, the decision can still be appealed, but … Continue reading

Is TV Bounty Hunter Headed To The “Dog” House?

TV’s “Dog the Bounty Hunter” is making headlines again. The reality television star known for upholding the law is now being accused of breaking it. According to a Honolulu (the city “Dog” resides and films his show) newspaper, a woman has filed a lawsuit against Duane “Dog” Chapman, alleging the TV bounty hunter and his crew threw her down a flight of stairs and broke her back while apprehending her boyfriend. The paper says the contents of the lawsuit do not list specific damages, though it does accuse Chapman and his fellow bounty hunters of injuring the woman at her … Continue reading

“Dog” Remains Unleashed—For Now

In front of a standing room only crowd, lawyers for Duane “Dog” Chapman announced that a Mexican court would delay prosecution of the bounty hunter until more evidence in the case can be presented. The announcement came during a press conference in Honolulu yesterday. According to various media outlets, Chapman is now awaiting a ruling from a Mexican court as to whether he will have to appear at an extradition hearing. This latest chapter in the ongoing Chapman saga follows the arrest of “Dog,” his son Leland and his associate Timothy Chapman (no relation) by U.S. marshals in Hawaii in … Continue reading

Update: “Dog” Looking To Cut A Deal

TV bounty hunter Duane “Dog” Chapman’s “leash” may be cut by the end of next month. (Read my previous blog about Chapman’s arrest to get up to speed on “Dog’s” current dilemma.) The result may be less growling on “Dog’s” part. According to the latest news reports, Chapman’s attorneys are try to construct a deal to avoid his extradition to Mexico to faces charges of illegal detention and conspiracy in his capture of a cosmetics company heir there three years ago. (F.Y.I. Bounty hunting is a crime in Mexico.) This entire episode—and I don’t mean that facetiously—Chapman’s recent arrest and … Continue reading

“Dog” Out Of Jail, But On Tight Leash

I’m not a HUGE fan of Duane “Dog” Chapman who stars on his own cable reality show–“Dog The Bounty Hunter,” but since I am from Hawaii (Chapman resides on the island of Oahu) and once covered courts for a local television station there, “Dog’s” recent arrest is something I felt compelled to blog about (that and the fact that the guy has a ton of rabid fans who follow his every move). To get you up to speed, Chapman is a bounty hunter who made headlines in 2003 for capturing Max Factor cosmetics heir Andrew Luster in Mexico (“Dog” was … Continue reading
