Hollywood Dads—-Who Are They Kidding?

It’s been more than a year since Ryan Phillippe and his Oscar-winning actress wife Reese Witherspoon split, but only now is the actor speaking out about life post-divorce. The 33-year-old father to the couple’s two children Ava, 8, and Deacon, 4 recently told USA Today that “it’s bizarre” to see photos of his ex-wife and her new boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal splashed on the pages of entertainment publications. No word on how he feels seeing them together in person. Phillippe told the newspaper that he goes out of his way to avoid looking at pictures of his ex and her new … Continue reading

I Almost Didn’t Homeschool Because I Was Afraid of Losing Myself

Many people tell me that they could never homeschool. They always have a very good and valid reason whey they could not do it. I understand what they are saying because many of the same reasons nearly kept me from homeschooling. I almost didn’t homeschool because I felt alone. I almost didn’t homeschool because I didn’t understand my options. I almost didn’t homeschool because I thought my family would not approve. I almost didn’t homeschool because I didn’t think I had the patience to do it. I almost didn’t homeschool because I was afraid of the responsibility. One of the … Continue reading

What The Heck Did She Say?

You feel terrible for her or you’re still rolling on the floor laughing. Either way Lauren Caitlin Upton sure is making a name for herself… and it’s not because the beauty pageant contestant walked away with the title of Miss Teen USA Friday night. She didn’t. But, I don’t think many people noticed. Rather, most viewers who tuned into the Donald Trump owned pageant on Friday night were trying to figure out what the teen was trying to say when she fought to answer a question posed by show host Mario Lopez. Upton was asked, “Recent polls have shown a … Continue reading

Why Didn’t You Get Me Out? – Frank Anton

Frank Anton was serving his country as a soldier in the Vietnam conflict. He was taken captive by the Vietcong and held captive in a jungle camp for years before finally being taken up to the Hanoi Hilton, a march of half a year. Just shortly after his arrival in Hanoi, he and the other POWs were released and brought home to the United States, emaciated, sick, and suffering any number of physical and psychological scars. “Why Didn’t You Get Me Out?” is Anton’s story, told in his own words, of the things he endured as a POW. This book … Continue reading

According to PEOPLE magazine the actress’ dance card is full. Meteor Hits Russia

This has been a crazy week.  We woke up Thursday to the news that Olympian Oscar Pitorius was arrested for the murder of his model girlfriend.  In case you don’t remember, Pitorius, a South African, was the runner who had both legs removed below the knee in childhood.  He was called the Blade Runner because of special prosthetics that allowed him to compete in both the Olympics and Paralympics.  After his inspiring runs in the last Summer Olympics, he was treated like a hero, but then on Valentine’s Day, he shot his girlfriend dead, claiming she was an intruder. Before … Continue reading

Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day!

As a child I begged my mother to read the Alexander books to me, now my little Logan asks for them the same way I did. As a child I remember having days like poor little Alexander, when it seemed like every little thing went wrong. As an adult it seems like those days happen more often. Today happens to be one of those days. As a single mom it is hard to carry the weight of the world around on your shoulders. Your children depend on you for so many things. You don’t have anyone else there to pick … Continue reading
