Edie Exits Wisteria Lane and Cheryl Enters Into a New Relationship

Someone is getting the ax on Wisteria Lane, and it’s not Susan Mayer. Actually, the mystery regarding, which of the lovely Desperate Housewives’ stars, is getting the boot from the show is really not that mysterious at all. According to series creator Marc Cherry, Nicollette Sheridan’s saucy character Edie Britt will be leaving Wisteria Lane at the end of April. “She had a great time on the show and is looking forward to her next project,” Sheridan’s rep told reporters earlier this week. We may know who’s leaving, but lips are sealed regarding how Edie is set to depart from … Continue reading

Celebrities and Valentine’s Day

Do you have a date for Valentine’s Day? If not, you’re not alone. In fact, some of Hollywood’s biggest names recently revealed that they have no plans to celebrate Love Day tomorrow. For example, The Office star Jenna Fisher dished that she won’t be sipping champagne and munching on truffles tomorrow. Rather, the actress says she will be attending her friend’s daughter’s bat mitzvah. Grammy-winning singer Duffy admits that she won’t be celebrating Valentine’s Day with the traditional romantic dinner and sweet sounding cards. Instead, the songstress says she plans to spend the night serenading “beautiful men”… in a gay … Continue reading

All-Star Returns

Just when you thought Wisteria Lane was down a man-eater, word has it Nicollette Sheridan has agreed to reprise her role as the cunning husband-stealing Edie Britt on ABC’s “Desperate Housewives.” Sheridan was written off the show at the end of the fourth season, but according to reports, the actress will be back sashaying in and out of the wives’ lives in the forthcoming season. And for all of you “Desperate Housewives” fans, who were getting sick of seeing Edie steal the men of Wisteria Lane from their respective mates, producers of the show just revealed that Sheridan’s character will … Continue reading

Writers’ Strike Hits “Desperate Housewives”

Oh sure, now the truth comes out. Prior to writers actually hitting the picket line yesterday, producers of popular primetime TV shows such as “Desperate Housewives,” “Two and a Half Men,” and “CSI” maintained their series’ wouldn’t be sent into reruns until January. Fat chance. Turns out production has already stopped on at least six sitcoms because of the Hollywood writers’ strike. According to studio heads, my favorite show of the new season “Back to You,” starring Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton, will not return from a planned hiatus. Sniff. Sniff. Julia Louis-Dreyfus told TV’s “Entertainment Tonight” production has also … Continue reading

Big Apple On A Budget—Remember the “S” Word

Let’s face it; traveling to and staying in New York City is not cheap… unless you do so on a night most people are at home curled up on the couch catching up with the ladies on Wisteria Lane. That’s right cost-conscious vacationers, thanks to a new citywide tourist promotion; the Big Apple’s famously pricey accommodations are giving a break to travelers who spend Sunday night in the heart of the Empire State. The new “Sunday Stays” program is being offered at more than three dozen New York hotels. By spending Sunday night at participating properties you can save 20%-30% … Continue reading

“Desperate Housewives” Controversial Dig On Filipinos Causes Ire

Do you remember the scene from Sunday’s season premiere of “Desperate Housewives” where Teri Hatcher’s character, Susan, goes in for a doctor’s appointment and is stunned when the gynecologist suggests she may be going through menopause? “Listen, Susan, I know for a lot of women the word ‘menopause’” has negative connotations. You hear ‘aging,’ ‘brittle bones,’ ‘loss of sexual desire,’” the doctor tells her. “OK, before we go any further, can I check these diplomas? Just to make sure they aren’t, like, from some med school in the Philippines?” Susan retorts. That exchange, which I’m sure show writers meant to … Continue reading
