Looks like MTV is not the only cursed network around. Just ask Olympic beach volleyball champ and current “DWTS” contestant Misty May-Treanor. The gold medal athlete is recovering from a nasty spill that sent her to the hospital Friday afternoon. According to a statement released by ABC, the muscular looker was practicing her dance routine with pro partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy when she sustained an injury that required hospitalization. Forget about Jessica Simpson… my boy Derek Hough was taken to the hospital for a real emergency. Luckily, it wasn’t serious enough to keep him from standing by his partner Shannon Elizabeth last night on Dancing with the Stars’ results show, but still… According to news reports, DWTS pro Hough injured his neck while he was rehearsing a routine with his sister Julianne and fellow Dancing pro Mark Ballas. I am sad to say that Maksim Chmerkovskiy will not be a regular dancer on the upcoming season of “Dancing with the Stars.” His reps told People magazine that the gorgeous dancer would be taking time off, that he “needs a break.” The 28-year-old hoofer had previously been partnered with Laila Ali (who just finished up her first season on “American Gladiators”) and Spice Girl Mel B. Looks like there’s good news for you Cheryl Burke fans who paid to see the two-time “Dancing with the Stars” champ bust a move in person. Doctors have cleared the flexible 23-year-old to rejoin her pals on the current “Dancing with the Stars” national tour. Earlier this week Burke contracted a mystery illness and was forced to sit out two shows—-including opening night in Seattle, and another performance in Sacramento.
