Could Katie Couric Be Bolting From CBS?

To answer the question… it’s highly unlikely. Despite record low ratings and an onslaught of personal attacks from colleagues she thought she could trust, it seems that CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric will honor her 5-year contract with the network. Of course, that doesn’t mean that all that has transpired since she left her cushy job at NBC has not taken a toll on her confidence and composure. In a lengthy interview with New York magazine Couric (for the first time) publicly admits she has second-guessed her move from the Today show to the Evening News. Couric tells the … Continue reading

Ann Curry Leaving “TODAY?”

Rumors are swirling that Ann Curry is leaving “TODAY.” She served as the news anchor on the show from March 1997 until last June then moved into the co-anchor position after Meredith Vieira left. But, ratings are down. “TODAY” once had 780,000 more viewers than “Good Morning America” but in the last year, that has disintegrated to a mere 13,000 viewers in May 2012. It returned to a 332,000 viewer lead during the first week of June, but it seems as if the damage has been done. And, what happens when ratings are down? All eyes turn to the new … Continue reading

How Not to Tick Off David Letterman

A.) Make sure your name is not John McCain and B.) Never, ever cancel a “Late Show” appearance at the last minute. It’s a lesson Republican presidential hopeful John McCain learned the hard way last night when he dissed David Letterman for Katie Couric. Did you see it? In classic Letterman style the often-irritable late-night talk show host spent much of his time on air unloading on McCain for standing him up. Bail on Letterman? Talk about stupid human tricks. According to Letterman, McCain personally called the comedian just hours before he was supposed to show up to tape an … Continue reading

Did New Baby Cost CNN Anchor New Show?

The media had a field day when Campbell Brown left NBC News for CNN after more than 10 years at the peacock network. The former Weekend Today co-anchor spent years covering the White House for NBC and in 2006 she was named as a highly viable contender in the hunt to replace Katie Couric on the Today show. When NBC execs announced Meredith Vieira would fill Couric’s vacancy, Brown was livid. A year later Brown told a live Today show audience she was pregnant and a few months later she jumped ship to CNN where she was promised her own … Continue reading

Meredith Returns To “The View” and Rachael Ray Wants To Taste Your Cooking

The good news: Meredith Vieira is retuning to ABC’s “The View.” The bad news: She’s only staying for a day. Actually, she’s only scheduled to be on for one segment, but here’s hoping it will be a long one. Meredith Vieira… remember her? She was the daytime chatfest’s moderator for nine years before she left for her current gig at NBC’s “Today” show. Vieira replaced Katie Couric who left her cushy job for the anchor chair at the CBS Evening News. On “The View” Vieira was replaced by Rosie O’Donnell who was replaced by Whoopi Goldberg. Got that? The sorely … Continue reading

Celebrities On The Move: Drew Moves To “Price Is Right” and Campbell Jumps Ship To CNN

It’s official… well, almost. Comic Drew Carey has confirmed that he will be replacing game show legend Bob Barker in the fall. Carey spilled the beans during a taping of the “Late Show with David Letterman.” The deal puts to end the massive amounts of speculation regarding who would fill Barker’s shoes at the CBS daytime game show “The Price is Right.” Several months ago 83-year-old Barker announced he would be retiring, that opened the floodgates regarding who would be selected as the popular show’s new host. The front-runner (at least for a while) seemed to be outspoken talk show … Continue reading

Do You Watch “The Early Show?”

Now that CBS execs are fairly certain Katie Couric is staying anchored at the evening news desk they have decided to place their energy into bolstering their other last place news show—“The Early Show.” Have you heard of it? Seriously, if you look at the ratings you have to wonder if people even know it is on the air. CBS News execs are now hoping to change that. Just a few days ago they made a public announcement saying they are looking to make the perennially last-place morning program more competitive by revamping its format and abandoning the way it … Continue reading
