Celebrity Updates: New Gig(s), New Home, and a Hot New Couple

Does Ryan Seacrest ever sleep? The "American Idol" host took over the title of "Hardest Working Man In Show Business" from Regis Philbin (who took it over from Dick Clark) months ago, and it looks like he's living up to the billing. (If he's not the "hardest" working man in show business then he certainly is one of the busiest.)

Seacrest has just been tapped to host the 59th Primetime Emmy Awards, which is scheduled to air next month. The announcement comes on the heels of a prior declaration that Seacrest got the job of hosting the Super Bowl pre-game show in February.

In addition to his new gigs, Seacrest continues to do promos for his main source of income, "American Idol." Oh, and did I mention he also anchors E!'s newscast and has a Los Angeles radio show on KIIS-FM?

NEW HOME

With a new outlook on life (post her split from husband Peter Cook), super pretty super model Christie Brinkley has just bought a new mansion in the Hamptons. The waterfront property has a private beach and came with an $11 million price tag.

At the same time, the New York Post is reporting that Brinkley has also put her Bridgehampton mansion, known as Tower Hill, back on the market. The uptown girl spent the last decade living in the 8,500-square-foot home. According to news reports, Brinkley has the house listed for $30 million. For that much dough the next owner will get the main house that has five bedrooms, a two-story family room and an observation tower. Also included on the 20-acre property is an English-style greenhouse, a barn with a kitchen and bedrooms, and for fitness buffs, a 75-foot pool, Jacuzzi, gym and a tennis court.

HOT NEW COUPLE

Jessica and Justin who?

In a move I don't think even the most astute Hollywood insiders would have dreamed possible singer John Mayer and actress Cameron Diaz are this close to announcing they are officially "dating."

The pair has been spotted flirting with each other at various hotspots in New York, Miami and L.A. for weeks. But, this weekend they reportedly took their affection for each other to a new level. Witnesses at a New York hotel say Mayer and Diaz were "all over each other" and "super flirty."

The 29-year-old Mayer ended his revolving relationship with singer Jessica Simpson in June. While 34-year-old Diaz split from longtime boyfriend Justin Timberlake in January.

In just the past two weeks the couple have been seen snuggling and laughing together at various New York restaurants (Diaz is in town filming a new movie).

Asked if the pair is dating, a source close to Mayer told PEOPLE magazine, "Yes, it's definitely true."

Reps for the couple have yet to describe it that way.
