Celebrity Rehabber of the Day

Another day, another celebrity in rehab. This time, it is Velvet Revolver lead singer Scott Weiland. The Velvet Revolver issued a statement today on their web page that said, “Following Velvet Revolver’s performance last night in Los Angeles, lead singer Scott Weiland voluntarily entered a rehab facility.” Now unlike some (Kirsten Dunst took me by surprise), this should not a big surprise to anyone that knows anything about Weiland’s history. He has been diagnosed as being bi-polar, but he does not take medication for the disorder. Perhaps that accounts for his many run-ins with the law. In 1994, as his … Continue reading

Warren Boyd – The Real Cleaner

Have you seen the new A&E show “The Cleaner?” It features Benjamin Bratt as a former addict who now uses extreme measures to help other addicts get clean. If you’ve seen the show, you may not know that Benjamin’s character, William Banks, is based on a real person. Warren Boyd was raised in sunny Santa Rosa, California, but by the age of 32, he had seen his share of trouble. He had nine DUI convictions and had already spent five years in prison. Addicted to both alcohol and cocaine, Boyd had been in and out of 26 rehab programs without … Continue reading

Pretty Girls Guest on “Ugly Betty”

They might be pretty on the outside but two big name divas preparing to make their debuts on ABC’s “Ugly Betty” this month have track records that call into question their inner beauty. First up: Supermodel Naomi “I-use-my-cellphone-to reach-out-and-touch-people-in-all-the-wrong-ways” Campbell. The former jailbird reportedly felt right at home on the fashion-friendly “Ugly Betty” set. But forget about how Campbell felt, I’m more interested in knowing how her notorious reputation preceded her on the job? Shockingly, nary a bad word was uttered about the diva’s guest stint. According to series regular Michael Urie, Campbell was “awesome” the entire time she shot … Continue reading

Ready… Set… Rock!

In 1992 I was putting on the finishing touches to my college career that included a number of fabulous seats to a string of incredible concerts from U2 (twice) to Billy Joel. Back then the Stone Temple Pilots had just come on the scene and my boyfriend at the time was a huge fan. Who knew then that lead singer Scott Weiland, guitarist Dean DeLeo, bassist Robert DeLeo and drummer Eric Kretz would go on to sell 35 million albums worldwide and score a slew of Grammys? (Besides my ex-boyfriend who claims he was always a “believer.”) I enjoyed the … Continue reading
