Celebrity Mother-Daughter Drama

Tomorrow is Mother's Day. For some, the day will have more significance than for others. For singer Gretchen Wilson, it will hopefully mark a dramatic turning point in her relationship with her mother.

According to the "Redneck Woman" crooner, she and her mother haven't spoken in years, but she's hoping to break the silence on Sunday.

"As far as I know things are going a lot better with her life than they were previously," said Wilson. "And so I'm thinking that this Mother's Day, we might reconnect."

Wilson is hoping her phone call will be the first step in a journey that will lead the two women back together. But, it won't be easy given the troubled past mother and daughter have endured.

The award-winning country music star was born to a teenage mother, and has described her upbringing as "impoverished" and "difficult." Wilson has also publicly shared the fact that her mother was a battered wife who turned to alcohol and drugs to numb the pain of her life. In the midst of her mother's personal drama, the singer dropped out of high school at 14, and left home. (She retuned to school after she became a singing sensation and got her G.E.D. last year.)

After years struggling in the entertainment industry, Wilson hit the big time, and gave birth to a daughter. Grace is now 8 years old, and Wilson says she is determined not to make the same mistakes her mother did.

At 35 years old, Wilson says she is embracing motherhood and is determined to raise a self-confident daughter, who doesn't rely on others to make her feel good about herself.

In addition to celebrating Mother's Day with Grace and a phone call to her own mother, Wilson is getting ready to toast another milestone. The singer's fourth album, "I Got Your Country Right Here," is set to be released this summer.
