Well, That is Not Very Nice!

Other magazines usually release their “sexist female celebrity” lists, but Maxim has gone one step further – they just released their Unsexiest female celebrity list. Their Unsexiest Woman Alive article includes women from all over the world that appear in movies, on television, and on stage. So, who made the undesirable list? Coming in at number 5 was Britney Spears. Now to me, this is a case of kicking someone when she is down. Britney does look a little worse for wear lately, but about five years ago, she was on everyone’s hot list. However, the people at Maxim said … Continue reading

Celebrity Fashions—Hot Or Not?

When it comes to celebrity fashion beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But, whether you think a star’s look is “hot” or “not” it is likely that said celebrity more than likely dished out a ton of cold hard cash for a look that (they at least think) sizzles. The following items have recently graced the pages of fashion magazines—some merely because Hollywood A- listers were spotted modeling them in public. Far Out Frames Bespectacled individuals know even the most mundane frames can be costly. So how much would you pay for a pair of Alain Mikli glasses, … Continue reading

Defining Back-to-School Cool

Colorful video game characters, animal prints, and swear words with one or two missing letters, all splashed on tight fitting tees. Are these the coolest, trendiest and sassiest back-to-school styles for your student? Marketers of back-to-school apparel have been telling me for months that these are the hottest school duds for my little diva. Thank God my kid wears uniforms to school. Animal prints have nothing on the brutality that exists in the wild world of back-to-school fashions. The advertising is relentless. Trends are being pushed left and right; by the time you get through a single primetime program you … Continue reading

Choosing A Name for Baby

Choosing a name for your baby can be fun. Or it can end up as a nightmare. Firstly the couple needs to decide if they want to use the name of any family members either as first names or second names. One thing we were agreed on was that we didn’t like the idea of a child having the same name as a parent, even though I love the name Michael, which I think is a romantic sounding name. Mick doesn’t. like it. That was a compromise I had to make when we started going together. Each time Mick and … Continue reading

Hollywood’s New IT Career–Fashion Design

First it was Madonna, then Justin Timberlake , Sienna Miller and Sarah Jessica Parker jumped on the bandwagon. Next, Luke Wilson and Matthew McConaughey wanted in on the action too. Geez, is there any one in Hollywood who doesn’t have his or her own celebrity fashion line? I doubt it after learning about the latest round of TV and movie fashionistas (none who have any experience in the fashion biz—-not that that’s a prerequisite in Tinseltown these days) who are now offering you a chance to wear a little number they had a hand in creating. Add Lindsay Lohan’s name … Continue reading

Fashion Files: Winning Dress Revealed and Paris Does China

Just in time for the holidays you can look runway ready in a dress that made its debut on national television. “Project Runway” contestant Victorya Hong made history on last week’s episode when actress Sarah Jessica Parker chose her super short dress to appear as part of her Bitten line sold at Steve & Barry stores nationwide. The “Sex and the City” star was the week’s guest judge on the Bravo reality show about fashion and told viewers that Hong’s design was by far the best one of the group. Hong (who was paired with Kevin Christiana) and the other … Continue reading

Fashion Forward: Wedgie-Proof Underwear

Forget about Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger and Donna Karan, the hottest fashion designers on the block these days are 8-year-old twin boys. If you tuned into “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” last week you might be familiar with Justin and Jared Serovich’s fashion forward creation—-wedgie-proof underwear also known as the “Rip Away 1000.” The boys rigged boxer shorts and fabric fasteners to hold together some seams—and voila—instant protection from underwear grabbing bullies. “When the person tries to grab you and tries to give you a wedgie – they just rip away,” Justin explained to DeGeneres. The third graders say they came … Continue reading

Must Have Items For Fall That You May Already Own

Just in time for Halloween the weather around here is finally beginning to feel fall-like. (Never mind that I pulled out our sweaters and corduroy pants months ago.) As I perused my closet the other night I was pleasantly surprised (make that shocked) to see that I actually own a few items that fashion experts claim are “must-have” pieces for Fall 2007. This, of course, means that if my closet has items fit for a fall fashionista, yours must too. Take a look at the following list and see if you have the makings of a trendy fall collection in … Continue reading

Baby-palooza

If it were up to singer Thalia’s famous hubby their new daughter would be their fourth not their first, but the busy entertainer had other ideas. Differences aside, Thalia and her husband, record producer (and Mariah Carey’s ex) Tommy Mottola are now the proud new parents on a healthy daughter born early Sunday morning. According to the couple’s rep, Thalia gave birth to Sabrina Sakaë at 2:44 am on October 7th — after 29 hours of labor. The newest Mottola weighed 8 lbs, 4 oz, and measured 19.75 inches. The couple’s first child will reportedly reside with her parents out … Continue reading

Back To School Fashion Trends

I ran over to the mall this morning to get a new battery for my watch. BIG mistake. I would guess that every intermediate and high school student in the county was there buying new outfits to wear to the first day of school tomorrow. Growing up I went to Catholic school, so needless to say, my summers weren’t spent doing the mall crawl searching for the perfect back to school ensemble. Rather, my mom spent the better half of the summer sewing school uniforms (navy blue slacks and skirts paired with white shirts and navy blue block knot ties). … Continue reading
