Celebrities Turned Foodies

Usually it’s the other way around. Foodies or chefs are catapulted into stardom when enough of their to die for dishes become the talk of the town. (Think celebrity chefs Rachael Ray, Bobby Flay, and Paula Deen.) Enter Justin Timberlake. The singer turned fashion designer has just added a new line to his resume–restaurant owner. Timberlake (along with a posse of his celeb pals) brought some heat to the Big Apple last night by opening his new restaurant, Southern Hospitality. As its name suggests, the new eatery features southern comfort food with an emphasis on barbecue. Timberlake says he wanted … Continue reading

Pretty Girls Guest on “Ugly Betty”

They might be pretty on the outside but two big name divas preparing to make their debuts on ABC’s “Ugly Betty” this month have track records that call into question their inner beauty. First up: Supermodel Naomi “I-use-my-cellphone-to reach-out-and-touch-people-in-all-the-wrong-ways” Campbell. The former jailbird reportedly felt right at home on the fashion-friendly “Ugly Betty” set. But forget about how Campbell felt, I’m more interested in knowing how her notorious reputation preceded her on the job? Shockingly, nary a bad word was uttered about the diva’s guest stint. According to series regular Michael Urie, Campbell was “awesome” the entire time she shot … Continue reading

Naomi Campbell Arrested…Again

I just do not understand what is up with modeling beauty Naomi Campbell. She is gorgeous, rich, and famous, yet something must be setting off these anger outbursts. Her rap sheet is longer than even the most diehard gansta rapper: In 2000, she pleaded guilty to a 1998 assault on Georgina Galanis, her own assistant. This assault included throwing Galanis from a moving car! The whole thing was dropped when Campbell expressed remorse, paid Galanis an unknown amount of money, and agreed to go to anger management classes. Not having learned much from the classes, Naomi was slapped (oops) in … Continue reading

Popular Chef Dies

The culinary world is in mourning today following the death of Friedman Paul Erhardt. The German-born cook better known as “Chef Tell” was 63. I remember watching Chef Tell on “Regis and Kathie Lee.” He was a fixture on the talk show and his jolly personality complimented the sardonic banter shared by Regis and Kathie Lee who really had no place in the kitchen. Regis regularly poked fun at Erhardt’s thick German accent, but he certainly wasn’t the only one to do so. Erhardt was the subject of many comedy skits on “Saturday Night Live” and he also served as … Continue reading

Star Updates: Justin’s Mouthwatering Ribs

Regular readers of my blogs know that I am a rib-a-holic. I would travel to the ends of the earth for a tender rack of baby back ribs. Which is why when I was writing a previous blog about singer Justin Timberlake opening a new eatery in Manhattan that featured “finger-licking” ribs, my mouth started to water and I wondered how fast I could get a flight to the Big Apple. Then it hit me… would an uptown celebrity-run restaurant really be the ideal place to get some meaty, fall-off-the-bone-tender ribs? I suppose… it’s not like Britney’s ex is the … Continue reading
