John and Jen Split and Ellen and Portia Wed

Did anyone seriously think they’d last longer than six months? If you predicted that John Mayer and Jennifer Aniston’s romance would fizzle out after four months then buy yourself a lottery ticket because you were exactly right. The high profile pair never officially confirmed they were dating, but pictures don’t lie. The couple was snapped cuddling, canoodling, and cavorting from Miami to Los Angeles (and just about everywhere in between as Aniston joined Mayer on his cross country concert tour). Personally, I am not the least bit surprised that Jen and John split. What does shock me is the fact … Continue reading

What’s the Big Deal?

Jennifer Aniston had lunch with musician John Mayer in Miami last week. Whoo-hoo. What’s the big deal? Frankly, I don’t think it’s worth mentioning, but for some reason news of this alleged “intimate” luncheon is making headlines the world over. For those of you who haven’t opened a newspaper or surfed the Internet this weekend, apparently the former “Friends” star had a late private lunch with Mayer at a trendy Miami eatery—-which, by the way, the couple reportedly had opened just for them—Friday afternoon, before reuniting again for a lengthy dinner later that night. According to news reports, Aniston and … Continue reading

Celebrity TMI (Too Much Information)

Since breaking up with Jessica Simpson singer John Mayer apparently isn’t getting the amount (or quality) of press he desires. In fact, the award-winning crooner has become the target of some rather interesting (that’s as nice a word as I could come up with) rumors, including this one (the tamest one I could share on this site) that claims Mayer “Googles himself every morning.” That quote comes directly from the New York Post’s gossip column Page Six. The paper alleges that the young pop star is so obsessed with his public persona, he routinely visits the popular online search engine … Continue reading

Harry Potter Fans About to See Double and Robert Redford’s Dream Project

Seven books, eight movies? Hmm… doesn’t seem to add up unless you are talking about the phenomenally successful Harry Potter series and you are trying to cash in BIG TIME. According to movie producers, the boy wizard will star in not one, but two films adapted from J.K. Rowling’s last “Potter” installment, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.” The story will reportedly be split into two parts on the big screen. The first film is slated for release in November 2010, with part two following in May 2011. Producers say it was impossible to include all the elements of the … Continue reading

Celebrity Updates: Maria and Dave

No matter what happens with her husband’s political career don’t expect Maria Shriver to return to TV news. Mrs. Arnold Schwarzenegger says she has Anna Nicole Smith to thank for that decision. Shriver made the announcement about her career earlier this week during the annual California Governor and First Lady’s Conference on Women. You’ll recall Shriver took an extended leave from her job at NBC News when her husband ran for California governor in 2003. After he was elected, Shriver made two appearances as an anchor for “Dateline NBC.” A few months later she told her bosses that she could … Continue reading

Virginia Tech Receives Grant

In the past few months there has been a lot of talk about school safety and the Virginia Tech shootings. I receive much information about the Virginia Tech shootings through google and other web searches. It is my goal to keep you as up to date as possible about the school’s plans to make the campus safer. Much controversy has risen about how the school could have handled things differently and if there were signs that were overlooked. As you know, some of the victims families have asked that the president of Virginia Tech resign or be fired. However, he … Continue reading

Can Virginia Tech Be Blamed For The School Shootings?

We all remember the horrible Virginia Tech shootings that occurred several months ago. Over thirty people, students and faculty, lost their lives. After incidents such as this, people start questioning what could have been done differently. Families of the victims look for something or someone to blame for their loss. I cannot say that I would not do the same. Late last month, a panel decided that indeed Virginia Tech could have done something differently and saved lives. It was determined that if students were notified earlier, lives would have likely been saved. From the time the first shootings happened, … Continue reading

Fashion Forward: Bulletproof Backpacks

Pencils. Check. Pens. Check. Notebooks. Check. Bulletproof backpack… Not exactly the type of item you want to see on your child’s back-to-school shopping list, but a couple of entrepreneurs from Boston think it should be there. If you thought a backpack’s main purpose was to be a fashion accessory, think again. Joe Curran, of My Child’s PackIt, says backpacks should serve multiple purposes, including acting as a weapon in the war against school violence. Curran started the bag company shortly after the shootings at Columbine in 1999. He and his buddy Mike Pelonzi say the idea for the bulletproof backpack … Continue reading

Celebrities Lend Helping Hand To Virginia Tech Students

They say tragedy brings out the best in people, and April’s tragic shooting at Virginia Tech was no exception. In the days following the deadliest shooting in modern U.S. history an outpouring of support blanketed the campus in Blacksburg. Now, four months after the massacre, a handful of stars are once again uniting to offer help to the students and staff affected by the shooting rampage. School officials have just confirmed that John Mayer and the Dave Matthews Band will headline a special concert at Virginia Tech on September 6th to help the university and its students begin the new … Continue reading
