Jesse and His Girl Hit by a Drunk Driver

If Sandra Bullock’s husband Jesse James were a cat, by my calculations he would only have about five lives left. The “Monster Garage” star has not only survived numerous motorcycle accidents and an attempt last year by some whacked out fan to plow him over with her Mercedes, but now word has it that James has also escaped serious injuries in a drunk driving accident. According to Boston newspapers, Bullock and her husband were hit by an alleged out of control drunk driver last night while being chauffeured to the Massachusetts home they are renting while the actress finishes production … Continue reading

Celebrities Giving Back this Thanksgiving

Some Thanksgiving diners got a side of celebrity with their turkey meals yesterday. A handful of Hollywood’s biggest names, including Harrison Ford, Kirk Douglas, and Calista Flockhart spread the holiday spirit at Los Angeles’ downtown mission doling out drumsticks, mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole and pumpkin pie during the center’s annual Thanksgiving Day feast. The hot holiday meals were served to more than 3,000 of the area’s homeless people. Some stars brought their children and turned the event into a family affair. Actress Nia Long had her 7-year-old son place rolls on plates while she dished up vegetables. Meanwhile, … Continue reading

Woman Tries To Kill Sandra Bullock’s Husband

Maybe it’s the price of fame… or, perhaps it simply speaks to the instability of obsessed fans… Either way, actress Sandra Bullock’s husband, Jesse James is lucky to be alive today. According to California police, a woman tried to kill James on Sunday morning outside of the Orange County home he shares with Bullock and his 10-year-old son. “At around 10:40 a.m. James found the female suspect lying on their driveway,” police told local news reporters. “He told her to leave, but instead she got into her 2004 silver Mercedes and tried to run him over three to four times. … Continue reading

Random Acts of Kindness—Spreading “Happyness”

It may have been released several weeks ago, but Hollywood’s still buzzing about the movie “The Pursuit of Happyness.” The film tells the real-life story of a homeless man (played by Will Smith) who worked his way to becoming a millionaire. At the rate my life speeds by I’ll never get a chance to see the movie in a theater (I’ll likely catch it on DVD), but the same is not true for dozens of infrequent moviegoers in Washington, D.C. Recently, about 100 of D.C.’s homeless people were guests of the mayor’s office for a screening of “The Pursuit of … Continue reading

Celebrities And The Spirit Of Giving

Many regard Christmas as the season of giving. But, for some big-hearted souls helping others is a year round effort. No surprise. However, when the big-hearted soul is also a big-name Hollywood star then it may be a shocker… to some. The following is the story of a Hollywood heavyweight who has made it his mission to help those less fortunate in a rather unique way… see if you are more stunned by who it is or what he’s doing. Some know Jesse James as the host of TV’s “Monster Garage.” Others know him better as actress Sandra Bullock’s husband. … Continue reading

Miss Universe Canada Disqualified

When you read this headline, you might thing “What does this have to do with Green Living?” Well, if you’ve read my blog before, you know that I believe that social conscious and civil rights are a huge part of living green. Yes, it is great to recycle your flip flops, but if those flip flops were made by slaves in a third world country, it’s still not green. As a child of the ‘60s, I’ve seen people protest for equal rights for African Americans and women. Now, at least in America, it seems the big civil rights struggle is … Continue reading

Michael Bolton vs. Bruno Tonioli

Even if you don’t watch “Dancing with the Stars,” you might have heard about the throw down between now-eliminated celebrity dancer Michael Bolton and judge Bruno Tonioli. Bolton danced a jive to Elvis’ “Hound Dog” with partner Chelsie Hightower last Monday night and Tonioli let him have it in his critique. Bolton’s total score from all the judges was 12, with Carrie Ann Inaba giving him a 4, Len Goodman giving him a 5, and Tonioli giving him a 3. But it was Tonioli’s words that were most stinging to Bolton. He named it the “worst jive in 11 seasons” … Continue reading

Weight a Minute! Getting a Life Coach

I’ve frequently heard of celebrities and other rich-type people hiring personal trainers, personal stylists, personal dressers, personal assistants—all these persons who personally see to their every need. In some ways, that sounds fabulous. I could use a maid, a cook, a nanny, a driver, a gardener . . . well, okay, I don’t really have a garden, but I have a flower bed, and I think that counts. What I really need, though, is a life coach. Someone who can take a look at my life and clearly see what I need to do to get where I need to … Continue reading

Hollywood Do-gooders Strike Again

Can you image walking across the stage at your high school graduation and locking eyes with actress Sandra Bullock? That’s exactly what happened to some unsuspecting New Orleans high school seniors just a few days ago. Bullock and her husband Jesse James sat in the front row to witness 191 students receive their diplomas. The students make up the first graduating class from Warren Easton High School since Hurricane Katrina nearly leveled it in 2005. According to the school’s principal, Bullock donated more than $100,000 to the school and provided more than two dozen $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors. School … Continue reading

The End Of A Hollywood Tradition

I love a parade. Which is why I was sad to hear that after 75 years the Hollywood Christmas Parade is no more. A few days ago parade officials announced that the holiday tradition has been cancelled due to rising costs and loss in revenue. “This is a very difficult thing for us to have to do,” the chairman of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors told reporters at a recent news conference. “We’re disappointed and sad. But we’re out of the parade business.” I’m sad too. I would have loved to take my young daughter to see … Continue reading
