Frugalista Fashions: Making your old boots look new

As winter approaches the shoe stores are filling up with books and other winter shoes. The thing is this years boots don’t look much different from last year’s boots. I have seem some trends toward boots that come up over the knee and some slouch boots too, but the classics are still classics. With that said, why not refurbish last years boots to wear this year? The first step to fixing up your new boots is to examine the bottoms. I tend to pronate my feet a little when I walk so my shoes are worn a bit more on … Continue reading

Buying Some Fashion Sense

In a previous blog I took a stroll down memory lane to revisit a saying one of my obnoxious junior high classmates used to torture the girls with: “Here’s a dollar go out and buy some fashion sense.” Ah, the good ol’ days. As I mentioned earlier, I am by no means a fashion expert, but I do learn from my mistakes and make note of the fashion tips that have served me well in the years since junior high. Here are a few more: Learning How To Dress For Your Body Type You may not keep on top of … Continue reading

Tips for Shopping at Amazon.com

Amazon.com is a frugal person’s paradise, especially when you are in the market for school books or Christmas presents. Their second-hand market is comparable to Ebay prices and if a sale does not go the way you think it should, Amazon.com is glad to run interference… unlike eBay. When there is an item I need to buy and did not pay full price I find that my search often ends at Amazon. From vitamins, to hair oils, to homeschool supplies, and electronics. I have even purchased dressy clothes and formal wear. You can’t go wrong with Amazon.com if you know … Continue reading

How I Became Susie’s Mom

Susie was my best friend in school. We were very close. I spent a lot of time at her house and knew her mom and dad well. They were great parents to her, good role models for me, and I especially enjoyed her mother’s company. Mrs. Wilson was a petite woman, who put on a few pounds over the years, making her appear short and plump. She was rather frumpy in appearance and most certainly reached a point in her life where she dressed only for comfort. Susie and I were fashionable; in tune with the styles of the day … Continue reading
