As you likely know by now derailed pop princess Britney Spears was granted an early release from UCLA Medical Center’s psych ward last week because a court representative found “no just cause” for the hold. “No just cause?!” Apparently, the court representative doesn’t watch the news, live in Los Angeles, or read this blog. Yesterday a judge named Brit’s father, Jamie Spears, conservator of his daughter. Which basically means that he is now in control of the 26-year-old singer’s life. Same sad scene different day. It was déjà vu for Los Angeles paramedics last night as they once again returned to Casa Crazy (a.k.a. Britney Spears’ mansion). According to news reports (have you turned on your TV this morning), the popwreck was strapped on a stretcher by emergency personnel and taken by ambulance to UCLA Medical Center for a 72-hour psychiatric hold. He was best known in my family as Alice’s butcher boyfriend on “The Brady Bunch,” but you might remember Allan Melvin as Archie Bunker’s neighbor on “All in the Family.” Regardless of his previous roles, family, friends and fans of Melvin are mourning his loss.
