Reaction to Jamie Lynn Spears's Pregnancy-Big Sis in Denial and Mom's New Book on Hold

Earth to Britney Spears---Your baby sis is pregnant.

The first published reports confirming 16-year-old Jamie Lynn Spears's pregnancy came a little after 7 p.m. Eastern time. At 9 p.m. Pacific Time a horde of paparazzi caught up with Jamie Lynn's big sis Britney outside an upscale California boutique and quizzed her about becoming an aunt.

Brit's response: "My sister's not pregnant."

Some speculated that Brit was merely trying to protect her little sis, but according to TMZ.com, it's more likely that the trainwreck is in denial since she was kept out of the loop and only found out about Jamie Lynn's pregnancy around the same time the media did.

A source tells TMZ that keeping the news from Britney wasn't done because there is a rift between her and Jamie Lynn (you'll recall the two siblings kissed and made up earlier this summer after a period of estrangement). Rather, the decision to keep Brit in the dark was made by Jamie Lynn's advisors who have tried to keep the squeaky clean teen (well, former squeaky clean teen) apart from the drama that is her 26-year-old sister.

According to OK! Magazine, Jamie Lynn broke the news to her mother, Lynne, just before Thanksgiving.

"She was very upset because it wasn't what she expected at all," the teen said. "A week after, she had time to cope with it and became very supportive.

Now that she has adjusted to the fact that she is going to be a grandma for the third time Lynn Spears has decided to put her new book on hold.

In a previous blog I revealed that Mama Spears had penned a tell-all about raising her famous daughters. In a statement to reporters last night the book's publisher announced the story has been put on hold.

"The book is delayed indefinitely. It's delayed, not cancelled," says a spokeswoman for Thomas Nelson, which publishes inspirational books and Bibles.

Publishers' Weekly described the book as "Lynne Spears's personal story of raising high-profile children while coming from a low-profile Louisiana community."

It was scheduled to be released on Mother's Day 2008.
