Beauty Queen Told to GAIN Weight

Just file it under "Things You Don't Hear Everyday."

Did you happen to see Miss England Georgia Horsley's interview on NBC's "Today" show on Friday?

The British beauty queen revealed to "Today" show co-host Meredith Vieira that she was asked to "pack on a few pounds" for the upcoming Miss World pageant.

You read that right-GAIN weight, not lose it.

The 20-year-old beauty contestant says she was shocked by the request mainly because she is far from rail-thin.

The 5-foot-8, Horsley weighs about 125 pounds and says she sports a boyish, athletic-type figure as opposed to the voluptuous curvy figures most judges look for in beauty queens.

"I don't think I'm too thin. I'm happy with the way I am," said the size 4 Horsley. She added: "I probably would have been more hurt if they told me to lose weight, I think."

That said the dark blond beauty revealed she plans to take the request to heart.

"I'm going to eat healthy fat such as nuts and avocado - oily, fresh things like that - just to see if it will make me put on those curves," Horsley told Vieira.

By my calculations, Horsley has a little more than a month to complete her task. The Miss World pageant takes place in China on December 1st. In my opinion, the challenge won't be gaining weight, but putting on the pounds in the right places. I can't think of any regime (diet or exercise) that allows a person to target a certain place to add inches. Can you imagine eating more food in an effort to gain inches around your chest and ending up with a big belly and thunder thighs? Horsley is employing the aid of a nutritionist and weight trainer so I doubt she is going to be sashaying down the runway in China looking like a sumo wrestler, but still, you have to admit the idea of requesting a beauty contestant gain weight within a month of a pageant seems a bit absurd. After all, Horsely won the title of Miss England with her present body measurements, what's to say she can't do the same in China?

Would you be offended if someone told you to gain weight? And, how many of you will be tuning into the pageant just to see if Horsley is the skinniest one in the bunch?
