Your Baby Wants You!

There is always a recurring theme in my blogging it seems. I am a Mom. And, I often feel inadequate. Today has been one of those days. I woke up super grouchy due to my baby waking me at 4:15 am, the toddler waking me at 5:45 am, and my “big girl” waking me up at 6:45 am. Needless to say, I was not happy with anyone. I managed to get my girl out the door to Kindergarten and gave her a big hug before she left and told her I loved her. I hope she remembers that instead of … Continue reading

Vocal Power

So… my son has figured out that he has a secret power over his parents and that power is the ability to produce a LOUD VOLUME in quiet places. He now happily talks to himself or his shadow as he plays with his toys or tries to fit something that had been discarded onto the floor into his mouth (his recent favorite is unused tissue paper). This babbling has broken into a new found vocal power that he unleashed at us while we were at church this past Sunday (while out of town). Luckily my son is cute. This stops … Continue reading

The Power of Pink: Are You Raising a Princess?

My young daughter loathes princesses with a passion. While her friends’ rooms are bedecked in pink princess paraphernalia, my preschooler has chosen to decorate her space with a decidedly more daring dinosaur and dog motif. Which is not to say that I didn’t encourage her to embrace all things pink. When friends and family found out that I had given birth to a baby girl, pinky princess products arrived by the boxfuls. Bottles, bibs, blankets, crib sheets, onesies, pillows—-all sporting different shades of pink and baring words, such as “Her Highness,” “I am the Princess,” “Lil’ Princess,” or “It’s Not … Continue reading

Tinseltown’s Latest Baby Boom

Will the third time be the charm for Seal? His supermodel wife Heidi Klum is pregnant with his third child, and the award-winning musician says he is hoping for a girl. The couple is already parents to sons Henry Gunther, 3, and Johan Riley, 2, and Heidi has a daughter Leni, 4 (whose dad is Italian businessman Flavio Briatore), but the singer says he wants a baby girl to “even things out.” Addressing fans Thursday night during a concert at Radio City Music Hall, Seal confirmed that his sexy wife is expecting her fourth child and will give birth in … Continue reading

Single Parenting: Boys and Girls

I cannot say that I exactly know all about raising a girl because I do not have one. However, I have sisters, and I have several nieces and great-nieces and I am one myself, after all. I know a thing or two about girls. What I do know is that boys are quite different. Take for instance when I was going to pick up my niece to go shopping. Mind you, she was only 5 years old. Her mother told her that she needed to get ready because I was coming to pick her up. She responded with, “I cannot … Continue reading

Baby Names–How Many is Too Many?

Once upon a time parents gave their children a first, middle and last name and called it a day. These days kids are lucky if they get off with monikers that take less a day to pronounce. Case in point: the latest round of celebrity babies born to some of Hollywood’s biggest names. Last week acting duo Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O’Connell welcomed fraternal twin daughters into the world. The bitty babies were bestowed the following gigantic names: Dolly Rebecca Rose O’Connell and Charlie Tamara Tulip O’Connell. But, the O’Connell twins are not the only Tinseltown tots embracing the four-name … Continue reading

Baby Girl Power

Girls rule in Hollywood! It’s a girl and a girl… and another girl for some of Tinseltown’s biggest names. Earlier today actress Jennifer Garner and her actor hubby Ben Affleck welcomed a second daughter into their family. According to reports, Garner gave birth to a baby girl at a Los Angeles hospital and both mom and baby are doing well. The superstar couple has yet to release their newborn’s name. However, rumor has it that the acting pair’s 3-year-old daughter Violet had a hand in naming her new sibling. The former “Alias” star and her Oscar-winning hubby have made it … Continue reading

Celebrity Baby Names

If you are a celebrity (or just feel like one) you might want to know what your peers are naming their kids. Yes, we all know about Apple, but what about pilot Inspektor or simply Jack? Personally, I think one of the great things about parenthood is that you usually get naming rights. It is entirely in your power and responsibility to identify your child for life. It is such a big decision. For us, we agonized over names, even testing some out at the hospital to see if they fit our baby. Did we want a name that no … Continue reading

“Grey’s Anatomy” Star Prepares to Adopt Baby from Korea

Katherine Heigl is apparently blowing off biological babies in much the same way she did with her recent Emmy bid. According to the National Enquirer, the “Grey’s Anatomy” star is planning to adopt a baby from Korea with her husband of less than a year Josh Kelley. The 29-year-old actress, who has become a target of critics since she hit it big on the popular ABC drama and started flapping her lips without thinking, is reportedly going the adoption route because she doesn’t want to have to take time off from working to accommodate the labor and delivery process. According … Continue reading
