Baby Cruise Turns One

Where does the time go? Remember when many of us (okay, many media outlets) questioned whether or not Tom Cruise's then fiancée Katie Holmes had indeed given birth to a child?

In the weeks and months that followed the reported birth of baby Cruise, various reporters filed stories that raised doubts about Suri Cruise's existence. That was followed by a round of Suri sightings, before finally, a picture surfaced of the cutie sporting a full head of dark locks.

Hard to believe all that transpired a year ago.

The doted offspring of Holmes and Cruise just celebrated her first birthday last week... and not surprisingly, the little Hollywood princess did so in style.

According to PEOPLE magazine, Suri's parents organized a birthday lunch on April 18th at their L.A. home. Guests included both of Suri's grandmas along with a number of other family members and friends.

The magazine reported that the birthday girl dined on cupcakes from an upscale Beverly Hills bakery when she wasn't kicking a ball around with her dear ol' dad.

By all accounts it seemed like a normal get-together. No dancing bears, no elephant rides, no petting zoo-- just some pizza and decorative dragonfly and butterfly piñatas.

Even the gifts sounded on par with a typical suburban (Illinois) birthday party. PEOPLE reports little Suri received a gym set for the backyard, along with a stack of books, balls and dolls. (Of course, for all we know the gym is larger than the ones found at most city parks and she could have gotten enough dolls and balls to fill a warehouse... but other than that it sounds quite normal.)

The mid-week shindig was just part of a busy week for Suri's jet setting parents who days earlier attended a fundraiser in New York and a flight to Shreveport, Louisiana where Holmes is filming a new movie.
