The man who is being hailed as a “genius” for his work crafting the summer blockbuster “Wanted” (starring Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy) is not resting on his laurels. “Wanted” brought him box office glory and now Mark Millar wants to use his success to bring a boyhood dream to fruition. According to Millar, he is planning to pitch his version of the “Superman” franchise to Warner Bros. The husband and father says it has been his life long dream to make a Superman movie. Pop Culture Potpourri: Angelina Jolie’s Newest Fans and Billy Joel’s Anti-War Song

Angelina Jolie may not know that some of her most fervent fans live in the Philippines. And they aren’t women who idolize the international film star or men who dream of wooing her away from Brad Pitt, these fans live in rice paddies… and they are asking the 32-year-old actress to lend them a helping hand. A left-wing Filipino farmers group trying to call attention to thousands of rural people who have been displaced by increased military operations wants Jolie to adopt their cause. The Farmers’ Movement of the Philippines, or KMP, wants the United Nations to send Jolie – … Continue reading

Angelina Jolie’s Daughter’s Biological Family Wants Her Back

Zahara Jolie-Pitt, the adorable tot that Angelina Jolie rescued from an Ethiopian orphanage more than two years ago is now the center of an adoption controversy. According to new reports, members of Zahara’s biological family recently came forward in an effort to reclaim the girl. Paperwork filed in Africa reveals that Zahara’s biological grandmother claims the orphanage didn’t do its homework and that the little girl’s biological mother is still alive. Zahara’s grandmother isn’t the only one involved in this latest controversy. Zahara’s biological aunt is also weighing in saying that she is upset that Jolie didn’t make sure the … Continue reading

Chicago Goes Hollywood—The Jolie-Pitt Clan Spread Their Wings In The Windy City

I live about 2,000 miles away from Hollywood so to say that star sightings are rare around these parts is no exaggeration. Which is why it’s quite thrilling to know that one of Hollywood’s hottest families is roaming just miles from our home. (Okay, 150, but who’s counting?) The Jolie-Pitt clan (as in Brad and Angelina) is currently living it up in Chicago–taking in the Windy City’s most popular attractions—-while Angie shoots her new movie, “Wanted.” The happy family has been seen strolling the streets of Chi-town visiting local books stores and eating at various McDonald’s restaurants. Last week I … Continue reading

Angelina Jolie—A Death in the Family

Angelina Jolie is in mourning today. According to news sources, the actress’s mother, Marcheline Bertrand, died on Saturday at a Los Angeles hospital. Bertrand was 56-years-old. In a statement Jolie issued to the media she said her mother had battled cancer for nearly 8 years, but in the end the deadly disease won out. The statement went on to say that Angelina along with her partner, Brad Pitt, and her brother, James Haven were with Bertrand when she passed away. “Marcheline was beautiful, caring and totally devoted to her children. I never saw her upset or sad, even after she … Continue reading

Celebrity Moms Lending a Hand to Children of the World

Dogs living around a Staten Island, New York elementary school for autistic children must have gotten an earful yesterday when Jennifer Lopez made a surprise visit to perform for some unsuspecting students. Imagine the ear piercing screams that came from the auditorium where a group of 10- and 11-year-olds and their family members were gathered for a graduation ceremony. The happy day was made even more exciting when the singer and new mom to twins performed her hit “Let’s Get Loud” for the students at their commencement ceremony. A teacher at the school told local newspapers that she showed the … Continue reading

Hollywood Beauties Cruise Down the Red Carpet at Cannes

She’s not expecting twins, but when actress Michelle Williams made her debut on the red carpet at Cannes yesterday she drew as much attention as Hollywood’s most famous pregnant mom Angelina Jolie. Williams’ appearance at Cannes marked her first public interview since Heath Ledger’s death more than four months ago. The 27-year-old actress arrived in the south of France Thursday to walk the red carpet for the premiere of her new film “Wendy and Lucy.” She will reportedly remain at the world’s most famous film festival to promote “Synecdoche, New York,” a Charlie Kaufman film, in which she costars alongside … Continue reading

Generous Celebs Keep the Giving Going

There’s nothing like tax time to get you to review just how generous you’ve been in the last 12 months. And it’s not just you—–many Hollywood celebrities are taking time to total up their good (financial) deeds and some have been quite a bit more generous than others. Take for example, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. The handsome Tinseltown duo is known for helping those in need with their time and talent, but did you know that according to federal tax filings, the pair routinely digs deep (really deep) into their wallets to aid the less fortunate as well? According … Continue reading

Katie Headed For Iraq

Just a few weeks shy of celebrating her first anniversary as “CBS Evening News” anchor–Katie Couric is ditching the desk and heading for Iraq. In what network insiders are calling an “ambitious reporting trip,” Couric leaves today for the war torn country. She is scheduled to anchor the “CBS Evening News” from Baghdad next Tuesday and Wednesday, then from Damascus on Thursday and Friday. This will be the first time Couric will be reporting from the region. She is the second major network anchor to travel to Iraq since ABC News’ Bob Woodruff was nearly killed by a roadside bomb … Continue reading

Charitable Celebrities—Blood, Sweat, and Tears

In my previous blog “Hottie with a Hammer” I chronicled Brad Pitt’s charitable work. Recently, one of PEOPLE magazine’s “Sexiest Men Alive” joined forces in Western India with former President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn as part of a Habitat for Humanity program. Pitt swung a hammer to help build a new house for a local family in need. While Pitt was sweating it out in the town of Lonavla, his partner Angelina Jolie was shedding tears during her stint as a humanitarian ambassador for the United Nations. According to a new article in Newsweek magazine, the actress admitted … Continue reading
