Amy Winehouse Joins the 27 Club

This past weekend, singer Amy Winehouse was found dead in her house in London. While I was not surprised to hear this news, I was certainly saddened. Winehouse, for all her demons, was truly a talented singer. She released her debut album Frank in 2003 when she was just 20 years old. Her style was influence by jazz, Sinatra, and girl groups of the ‘50s and ‘60s. She would only have one more studio album before her death, but it blew up the charts. Nicolas Cage Refuses to Turn the Other Cheek and Natalie Slams Amy

A few weeks ago, I blogged about Kathleen Turner’s new autobiography titled “’Send Yourself Roses.” More specifically, I blogged about the things Kathleen said about her co-stars. She had accused Nicolas Cage of being a criminal while filming Peggy Sue Got Married, saying that he was arrested twice for drunk driving and once for stealing a dog. Actress Kathleen Turner has come out and said Nicolas Cage was difficult…at least he was 21 years ago. Kathleen has just written her autobiography Send Yourself Roses and in it, she says Nicolas was a real diva when the two filmed Peggy Sue Got Married in 1986. The film was directed by Nicolas’ real life uncle, Francis Ford Coppola. In case you didn’t know, Nicolas’ birth name was Nicholas Kim Coppola. Grammy Nominations are Announced

Despite having personal problems lately, Kanye West (whose mother just died) and Amy Winehouse (whose been plagued with a number of problems) were nominated for a total of 14 Grammys between them. Kanye received eight nominations including Album of the Year and Rap Album of the Year for Graduation. Kanye will be going against the likes of Common (for Finding Forever), Jay-Z (for Kingdom Come), T.I. (for T.I. vs T.I.P) and Nas (for Hip Hop is Dead) for Rap Album of the Year.
