A Haunting in Connecticut

Another ghost story based on a true event is currently in theaters. But, with information suggesting that another famous “true” ghost story, the Amityville Horror, was a hoax, you have to wonder what is really real. In case you haven’t seen The Haunting in Connecticut (and I haven’t either – not the type of film you take a four year old to), here’s the back story. Carmen Reed, her then husband, three children, and two nieces moved into a home on Meriden Avenue in Southington, Connecticut in the ‘80s. The night the family moved into the former funeral home, Reed’s … Continue reading

Scary Places – The Franklin Castle

The Franklin Castle can be found in Cleveland, Ohio. While all castles are probably a bit eerie simply due to age, the Franklin Castle is a bit creepier than most and thought to be one of the most haunted castles in the world. His daughter Emma died of diabetes in 1881 and his mother Wiebeka died shortly after. Within the next three years, three more Tiedemann children would die. That seems like an … Continue reading

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the plantation is currently a bed and breakfast, but it may not be for the faint of heart. It is known as one of the most haunted homes in America. The plantation dates all the way back to 1796 when it was built by General David Bradford, only he … Continue reading

Student Loans Waived for Green Jobs?

If you have ever gone to college, you know it ain’t cheap. But, the state of Connecticut is trying to institute a new approach to helping students out – green students that is. There is legislature in Connecticut now that could waive student loans of those seeking degrees or certificates in green careers. Other states that have been in need of certain types of professions, such as doctors, nurses, and teachers, have waived student loans in the past in lieu of the students promising to practice in that state for a certain amount of time after graduation. But, this Connecticut … Continue reading
