Prince Harry Adds to a Long Line of Royal Scandals – Part 1

The scenario has probably played itself out a thousand times before…a young handsome guy visits Las Vegas with some friends, they hang out at the hotel bar, meet some gals and head back to their suite for a game of naked billiards. No big deal, right? Well, it is if naked photos or taken and you have the Queen of England to answer to. Prince Harry, let’s just call him the Rowdy Royal, seems to have a pretty easy life. Oh sure, he did his thing in Afghanistan, but he doesn’t really have all the stress that William has because … Continue reading

A Royal Visit

The Prince has landed. Prince Charles that is… along with his wife Camilla arrived in the United States from Britain last night and spent much of today touring Philadelphia (he’s the first British royal to visit the state). The royal couple’s tour of the city included stops at Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, the National Constitution Center and the Academy of Music. At each stop throngs of fans gathered to gush over the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall. I would consider myself a “royal watcher” (as a child I was enthralled by Princess Diana), but I don’t … Continue reading

A Busy Week For The Royal Family

It’s been a busy week for Britain’s royal family and quite an emotional roller coaster ride for Prince William and Prince Harry. Whenever I hear news relating to Diana, Princess of Wales I am immediately taken back to the afternoon of August 31, 1997 when I heard the news that rocked the world and changed their lives forever. This week the official British police inquiry into the death of Princess Diana was made public, but that wasn’t the only event the young princes had to contend with. As I mentioned earlier, a few days ago an 832-page report (the result … Continue reading

You May Call Him Sir Salman

Do you remember author Salman Rushdie? He caused quite a stir in the Islamic world when he released his novel “The Satanic Verses” in 1988. Many Muslims found it to be insulting to Islam and the Ayatollah Khomeini of Iran issued a fatwa (a religious edict) calling for his death. The Iranian government said they did not condone the fatwa, but could not withdraw it either. Fearing for his safety, the British novelist went into hiding. Rushdie was one of the most well known novelists of the time when he went into hiding. His thirteen popular novels are mostly a … Continue reading

Pop Culture Potpourri: The Green Prince and A “Star Wars” Marathon

THE GREEN PRINCE Prince Charles has made headlines for being “green,” but the environmentally friendly future king of England may have a hard time topping this next move. Less than 24 hours ago Madame Tussauds unveiled a new wax figure of Prince Charles to reflect his efforts to combat climate change. Workers at the museum designed a one-of-a-kind “green” version of the Prince of Wales by recycling wax from a 1989 figure of the royal and updated it with 82 pounds of organic beeswax, 55 pounds of clay and fiberglass. Artists also used organic pigments to color the skin. But … Continue reading

Celebrity Updates: Middleton’s New Life and The Wiggles’ New Addition

Kate Middleton is adjusting to her new life without boyfriend Prince William. After nearly five years together, the couple recently decided to call it quits and as all things related to the future king of England the news made international headlines. Be that as it may, the intense media scrutiny apparently hasn’t stopped Middleton from carrying on with her daily activities. The 25-year-old was recently photographed leaving her parents house (she reportedly flashed a huge smile at waiting photographers) for her own London flat. She was later caught by paparazzi carrying a tennis racket and smiling again as she walked … Continue reading

Prince William Suddenly Single

So much for that December royal wedding some were predicting… British tabloids took a hit today after several media outlets confirmed that Prince William and his longtime girlfriend Kate Middleton decided to call it quits. According to The Sun newspaper, the couple reached an “amicable agreement” to separate, though a spokesman at the prince’s office refused to comment on the break up. The 24-year-old prince and his 25-year-old girlfriend met as students at St. Andrew’s University in Scotland in 2001 and first started dating in 2003. They briefly split for about five months a couple of years ago, but got … Continue reading

Prince Charles vs. McDonald’s

In this corner… we have His Royal Highness, Charles, the Prince of Wales: A 58-year-old father of two who likes to grow his own organic vegetables. And, in this corner, it’s the MacDaddy of all fast-food giants, home of the clown bearing its name, and a host of other greasy (yet yummy) menu options–McDonald’s. Ding! Ding! Let’s get ready to rumble! Okay, perhaps, I am overdoing it a bit. After all, the alleged feud between the famous British royal and the fast food chain may not be as bad as many first thought. So how did all of this get … Continue reading

Prince Harry going to War?

The Daily Mirror is reporting that Princess Diana’s youngest son, 22-year-old Prince Harry, is set to go to Iraq very soon. It is believed that the Defense Secretary Des Browne will make the announcement on February 26th. The royal family has not made a comment on the report and the Defense Ministry had said it was speculative earlier today, but CNN is reporting that a British Military source is saying he will indeed go to war. Prince Harry graduated from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 2006. He is known by the 11 soldiers he commands as Troop Commander Wales. … Continue reading

Rolling Towards Oscar Night

Each year, there are several award ceremonies that take place before the Academy Awards. These ceremonies often give us a glimpse into who may be a favorite to win a coveted Oscar. Usually, the Golden Globes are considered a good indicator, but this does not always prove true. Adrien Brody, who was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama by the Foreign Press, lost to Jack Nicholson for About Schmidt. But, I think many people were surprised, including him, when he beat out four previous Oscar winners to take home the 2002 Oscar for … Continue reading
