A Bad Week for the Osmonds

Have you had a chance to watch the new show, "The Great American Dream Vote" that Donny Osmond was hosting? If you haven't seen it yet, you have lost your chance. "The Great American Dream Vote" has been cancelled by ABC after only two episodes. It appears that it only took those two episodes to prove to ABC that the series was a failure.

It featured contestants who were competing to have life long dream fulfilled. The first episode was won by a bald man who wanted $30,000 to get a hair transplant. The second episode, on Wednesday brought in only 4.5 million viewers last and was fifth in its time slot. The winner Wednesday night was a 43-year-old guy who wanted to play in the NFL. I didn't see either episode, but just writing about them here seems pretty...boring.

Even following the ever-popular hit "Dancing with the Stars" did not help the show. ABC has been coy about the show. They will not admit it is cancelled, but rather are saying there are no plans to bring it back.

Donny Osmond, now 49, has said he and his siblings, who formed the popular 70s group The Osmond Brothers, may plan a reunion special for television. Donny also hosted a popular variety show with his younger sister Marie. Donny is currently the host of the television game show "Pyramid" in England.

Unfortunately, it has been a bad week for another Osmond. Marie has announced that after 20 years of marriage, she and husband Brian Blosil are divorcing. The couple has eight children. They have previously separated in 2000, but reconciled shortly thereafter. Blosil is Marie's second husband. She was married to Stephen Craig from 1982 until 1985.

Marie has appeared on Broadway in "Anna and the King." She also runs a very successful collectibles doll business "Marie Osmond's Fine Porcelain Collector Dolls" for QVC and Disney theme parks.

I love the Osmonds, but I have to admit, the premise for the game show did sound boring. Not that it was Donny's fault, but a dumb show is a dumb show.
