Growing up, I loved the show "Welcome Back Kotter." But, I did not have a whole lot in common with the characters on that show. They were from the north (Brooklyn, New York) while I was from the south (Memphis, Tennessee). They were older (high school age) while I was younger (middle school age).

My morning started out bad. I was so excited about the Oscar nominations (as I normally am), but I missed the official announcement because I am not good at math. Somehow in my mind, 5:30 PST worked out to be 9:30 CST.

Nevermore for the Poe Toaster

From the sometime in the '30s until 2010, a mysterious figure has visited the gravesite of Edgar Allan Poe in Baltimore, Maryland on January 19th, Poe's birthday. The figure, presumed to be male due to size, always dressed in black, wore a hat or white scarf to conceal his face, and used a cane.

The 2012 Golden Globes are over and the award season has officially kicked off. Who were the big winners? George Clooney for one. My best friend came over to watch and noted that Clooney was working the room, talking to everyone, mingling.

No recent celebrity splits - more memoriams! July 2011 Former First Lady Betty Ford passed away on July 8th at the age of 93 from natural causes. Ford was known for her outspoken stance on women's rights and breast cancer awareness during her husband's tenure as president.

I don't watch football, but I have more or less been forced to know who Tim Tebow is because everyone is talking about him. Plus, you can't really surf the Internet without seeing someone tebowing.
